Prologue Area Guide
Overview
The Night Everything Falls Apart
The Prologue opens with Soul framed for the murder of his master, the head of The Order, and a heart wound that leaves him sixty-six days to live. Mechanically it is the tutorial: traversal (wall-runs, chain swings, rope ascents) and combat (standard combos, parries, dodges) are taught one move at a time against Order pursuers. The area also introduces the game's relationship to difficulty — even the on-rails opening fights punish button mashing, because Order soldiers carry the same blue-flash and red-flash attacks every later enemy uses.
Zuo Shang, Fought Twice
The Prologue's boss, Zuo Shang, is fought twice: once as the opening duel and once again in his "Order's Shadow Sovereign" form as the area finale. The double fight is the game's compressed exam on its two defensive answers — parry the blue flashes, dodge the red ones — and the second phase is where most players first feel Sha-Chi management matter. Everything the Prologue teaches is exercised again by the first boss of Weeping Creek Valley, so nothing here needs to be perfected on the first night.
