Quick Answer: What Do Fragments Do in Phantom Blade Zero?

Three fragment families drive permanent progression. Blackstone Fragments: four shards fuse into one Blackstone, granting +10% Attack Power and Guard Break — twenty-one are documented across the game's regions. Sha-Chi Amber Fragments: same four-to-one rule, +10% maximum Sha-Chi per Amber. Memory Flowers: each whole flower (or full set of scattered petals) grants +5-7% maximum HP and carries a story fragment — introduced in the Crimson Forest. None of them respawn.

Blackstone Fragments: The Attack Power Ledger

Blackstones are the rarest currency in the game and the only one that buys two things at once: fusing four shards grants the permanent +10% Attack Power and Guard Break, and whole Blackstones are also the ability tree's entrance fee — Masterful Flow level 1 costs one, Redirect Force costs two. That double economy is why the locations above matter: every swept region is both a stat sheet and a skill unlock. Several shards hide behind region logic — the outpost cell needs unlocking, the Cliffside Lodge prison cell sits near the corpse carrying the Secret Chamber Crank, and the Beneath-the-Well passage only opens from below.

Memory Flowers and the Pre-Boss Question

Memory Flowers grant +5-7% max HP each and carry story lore, and the community's settled answer on timing is: collect the region's flowers before its boss. Players who sweep the Crimson Forest's flowers before Bai Chilian report the fight playing out with an extra phase or a unique reward — the game rewards arriving complete. Flowers are introduced in the Crimson Forest, so the habit starts there; Weeping Creek and the Prologue hold earlier pickups that count the same.
