Boss Mechanics

The Wailing Strings

Gu Wanyue's chains run long — strings that keep hitting after a normal enemy would have stopped, designed to drain any player still hiding behind guard. Blocking her pressure is a Sha-Chi donation; holding guard stance drains your gauge every second by itself.

Wraith Rhythm

Her attacks phase and resume — the wraith grammar — which makes dodge timing the whole fight. Every clean directional dodge is free (no Sha-Chi cost) and sets up your answer; every blocked hit costs twice (the hit plus the drain).

Step-by-Step Strategy

Step-by-Step

Commit to footwork: dodge through her strings, parry only the clean blue flashes, and punish the string-endings with short combos. Redirect Force (unlocked with two Blackstones) refunds Sha-Chi on clean dodges and parries — the single best purchase before this fight. Switch-reset whenever your gauge dips, and take executions on every guard break.

If you keep dying with an empty gauge, the problem is guard. Against wraiths the fix is not more guard — it is less.
