Puppets - Enemy Guide & How to Fight

Area: Village of Lu

Combat Trait: Constructs — immune to Bleed

Counter Approach: Raw damage, not status

Where You Meet Them

Puppets are Dusk's constructs in the Village of Lu: numbered performing machines like Yuzan, the No. 3 Musician Puppet and Yubi, the No. 21 Swordfighter Puppet, plus the gatekeeper-class bodies holding the streets. Pangzhen's backstreets and the Mandate Encampment field their own heavyset variants. They are Phantom Blade Zero's status-effect pop quiz.

How to Fight Them

The rule is absolute: puppets do not bleed. Constructs — puppets alongside Golden Bodies and Phantom Bodies — are immune to Bleed and similar ailments, so a Bleed-stacked weapon like Jagged Steel loses its whole status game here. The counter is blunt economics: their immunity does not extend to guard-breaking, so Sha-Chi pressure, parry drains and executions work exactly as on flesh. Switch to a weapon whose level-5 or level-10 ability adds damage instead of status, and treat every guard break as the damage window it is.

The Aberrant Three-Faced Puppet — the optional Rift boss in Weeping Creek Valley — is the same rule at boss scale. If a Bleed build carries you there, this is the fight that tells you to diversify.

Drops and Value

The sword-wielding puppet at Pangzhen's Backstreet Rest drops a Blackstone Fragment outright. Puppets otherwise carry mechanical parts and standard upgrade materials, and the numbered performance puppets are duel-grade fights worth treating as boss practice.
